Another day, another book sale in a community centre. This one was at Westmount’s Victoria Hall, to benefit the Friends of the Westmount Library. I got:
African Literature Today: Recent Trends in the Novel / Editor: Eldred Durosimi Jones
I read Wole Soyinka’s The Interpreters not long ago, and was greatly impressed; there’s an article here about Soyinka, plus a number of other interesting-looking pieces.
Barker, Clive / Books of Blood, Volumes 4-6
I’ve always been curious about the books that built Barker’s reputation.
Carter, Angela / Wise Children
This was actually a mistake, in that I actually already own a copy; I’d forgotten which books of hers I had. Oh well, it was a dollar.
Cook, Glenn / Darkwar
An omnibus collection of a three-book series.
Cook, Glen / The Tyranny of the Night
Volume one of another series. Both the Cook volumes were a dollar. So basically the prices were right, is what I’m saying.
Edgerton, Teresa / The Gnome’s Engine
Sequel to Goblin Moon, which I wrote about for Black Gate.
Grossman, Lev / The Magician King
I liked the first book of this series, and wrote about it for the Montreal Gazette back in 2009.
Hersh, Seymour M. / Chain of Command
First-draft of history stuff
Volsky, Paula / The Curse of the Witch-Queen
Another 80s fantasy.
I also picked up a 3.5 Edition Player’s Handbook, and The Book of Exalted Deeds, just on general principles. A good day.
