Hanging In

February 15th, 2014

So, at last report I was writing here about my plans for upcoming reading. What happened was that I found I could read a book a day — but not when I was sick at the same time. Much less read and keep producing any kind of writing. So radio silence ensued. I’ve got a […]

Reading, Second Half of October

November 1st, 2013

I read a total of eighteen books in the back half of October, which along with the twenty-two in the first half makes a total of forty. So I’ll see if I can’t keep that going on through the next two months, maintaining a pace of a book a day to reach an even hundred […]

A Medieval Halloween Tale

October 22nd, 2013

… is at this link. Pretty neat, and very Dante.

I’ve begun a personal program to try to read a book per day; or, more precisely, 30 or 31 books per month. I’ve just got too damn many unread things floating about. So every couple of weeks I’ll take a quick look at whether I’ve hit my goal numbers-wise, and have a few comments about […]

A Black Gate Round-up

October 16th, 2013

Geez, it’s been a while. Well, let’s see if I can’t get back into the swing of things with a look at what I’ve been up to over at Black Gate for the past few months.

Not Dead Yet

July 3rd, 2013

So that was a longer delay than I expected. My health seemed to take a turn for the worse in mid-to-late May; nothing serious, but the chronic stuff I’ve been struggling with for a while flared up again. I’m hoping to get back on track shortly. Hopefully more new chapters soon. I’ve also just cleared […]

A Quick Edit

May 14th, 2013

Just a note to observe I made a minor error in the last chapter, referring to Scholastica as being present in the Chamber of Oak and Holly. She isn’t. So I’ve deleted that reference. You think you’ve got all the rust off, and then you realise no, it’s still a process.

Post Recap, 20-04-12

April 20th, 2013

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a recap of posts here at the blog, but I’ve been fairly active recently, so let’s catch up a bit.

I’ve got a new post up at Black Gate, about the Scarlet Pimpernel and the idea of secret identities. Or, more precisely, the idea of heroic identities. It goes a bunch of odd places, and I’m happy I got it out on the anniversary of Superman’s arrival on newsstands.

Seasonal Thoughts

April 18th, 2013

It’s been feeling like spring around these parts, and after snow only a few days ago, it looks like warmer weather will be settling in for the near future (and hopefully longer). When I say ‘feeling like spring’ I mean that — you can smell it, you can sense it in the air. No more […]
